Pet Laser Therapy for Pain Management

Laser therapy is the newest innovation in pet pain management. While pain medications are useful for a number of circumstances, they are not ideal for long-term use for chronic pain. Pet laser therapy, though, is non-invasive, pain-free, and completely safe, even for long-term use. The Village Vets of Buckhead is pleased to offer our patients this new technology as an alternative to traditional pain medication.

Conditions that Benefit from Laser Therapy

Pet laser therapy has a wide range of applications and can benefit many different conditions. Typically, we use it for the following:

  • Arthritis
  • Intervertebral disc disease
  • Hip dysplasia
  • Wound healing
  • Lick granulomas
  • Hot spots
  • Dermatitis
  • Post-surgical recovery
  • And more

How It Works

Laser therapy uses concentrated light energy to stimulate cell production and thereby reduce inflammation and pain in the targeted area. A laser therapy session can last from about 5 minutes for post-surgical recovery or minor wound healing to about 30 minutes for chronic conditions such as arthritis. The frequency of sessions also varies from about one or two sessions to multiple sessions per week for an extended period of time. Your veterinarian will discuss your pet’s options with you and set up a schedule that suit their needs. Contact us today at (404) 844-4824 for more information and to set up an appointment!
